The artist Rino’s first monumental-size sculpture, titled “Goddess AïA,” was crafted at the Palmaïa - The House of AïA hotel in Playa del Carmen, Mexico in 2020.
The majestic 15-meter wooden sculpture emerging from a sinkhole is the artist’s representation of an anthropomorphic deity.
The artist’s use of organic shapes and textures in "Goddess AïA" evokes the beauty and diversity of the Mexican landscape, reinforcing the idea that nature is both a source of inspiration and a vital aspect of spirituality.
The sculpture was made mostly with roots, trunks, and branches of different types of wood from the Yucatan peninsula (recycled, found, or fallen), which gives it an organic appearance and naturally integrated into its environment.
